While budget discussions continue in the state capitol, the co-chairs of the legislature’s budget-writing committee released their proposed reductions budget based on no revenue additions. Public safety stakeholders have worked with the committee and the co-chairs to protect key grant programs to counties including community corrections grant in aid funding, justice reinvestment, and juvenile crime prevention and diversion funding.

At current service level, community corrections would send approximately $272 million to counties for community corrections and $40 million for justice reinvestment. Funding for juvenile programs from the Oregon Youth Authority and Youth Development Council would total nearly $23 million.

AOC leads the coalition made up of public safety stakeholders and service providers to protect justice reinvestment dollars. The coalition has organized numerous briefings and tours for legislators as well as develop strategy for other outreach to legislators.
