On August 19, the Oregon Transportation Commission (OTC) approved 39 multimodal projects from around the state for $49,518,726 in funding, provided by the ConnectOregon VI program. Oregon’s counties were selected for a variety of projects, including an airport rappel base building in Union County, rails-to-trails bridge in Yamhill County, improvements to the Lake County Airport, and others.

ConnectOregon focuses on improving connections among modes of travel while supporting Oregon’s economy. Dedicated to non-highway projects, ConnectOregon was first approved by the Oregon Legislature in 2005 and has funded more than 180 marine/ports, aviation, public transit, bike/ped and rail projects around the state with more than $380 million in funds generated by lottery-backed bonds.

The Association of Oregon Counties hopes to work with the Legislature in funding another round of ConnectOregon grants in the future.
