The Joint Committee on Transportation Preservation and Modernization (JCTPM) has held their first two meetings in Salem and Portland. In these initial meetings, legislators heard a lot about the need to ameliorate congestion in the Portland metro area, and how local transportation systems need more resources to maintain and preserve what counties already own. At the Portland hearing, counties were well represented, with Commissioner Roy Rogers (Washington), Commissioner Paul Savas (Clackamas), and Multnomah County Transportation Director Ian Cannon describing their local needs. The JCTPM is finally venturing out of the valley, and is coming to Ontario (6/28) and Hermiston (6/29). You are encouraged to coordinate with Emily Ackland if you intend to attend or testify at these two meetings.
