County road officials, engineers, and surveyors from across Oregon gathered together for the Oregon Association of County Engineers and Surveyors (OACES) Annual Spring Conference May 20-22 in Hood River.

The conference commenced with a welcome by Morrow County Commissioner Don Russell, who serves as the Association of Oregon Counties (AOC) liaison in his role as a director on the OACES board. In his welcome, Russell highlighted the important role of Oregon county road programs and surveyors, thanking partners for the work that they do to manage and maintain our road network across and acknowledging the critical impact an infrastructure system has on a county and the state’s ability to thrive.

Speakers were brought from a multitude of agencies and organizations to review broad policy topics ranging from general road maintenance and best practices to speed setting to federal funding to seismic and resiliency options. To view presentations from the conference, click here.

Board President, Chris Doty reflected on the conference, “this was a great opportunity for members to showcase best practices, learn from others, and get the most up-to-date information on road maintenance and surveying issues to better navigate challenges that face each county. Having a strong infrastructure system is essential, and this conference helps bring resources and innovation to county practices.”
