You’ve received a public records request… now what? Come and learn what your legal obligations are and how you can best respond to public record requests. This presentation by the Oregon Public Records Advocate, Ginger McCall, will cover the basics of public records requests: fees, deadlines, exemptions, and appeals. It will also cover the 2017 and 2019 updates to the Oregon Public Records law. Ms. McCall will discuss suggested best practices to help you manage requester expectations and ensure good customer service. Please RSVP to Kerry Prosser.

Kelsey Quinn from the Oregon State Archives Records Management Unit will review the basics of Records Management and Public Records Law including how to find and decipher the records retention schedule, how to organize your records for ease of destruction, electronic records management and software options, and modern communications such as email, social media, and text messaging. These trainings in conjunction will help you feel confident in managing your records and fulfilling requests.
