On March 22, 2017, the Senate General Government and Accountability Committee conducted its second public hearing on legislation proposed by the Attorney General to establish timelines on responses to public record requests, and legislation proposed by the Governor to establish a public records advocate and advisory committee. The bills, Senate Bills 481 and 106, respectively, have a series of proposed amendments, with more being worked on. It is likely that both bills will move out of the Senate General Government and Accountability Committee prior to the April deadlines, even if the bills will continue to be worked on in subsequent legislative committees.
