As many teenagers are moving into dorms this week and preparing to make the journey into adulthood, Rishi Sharma has embarked on a different kind of journey.

Sharma, 18, packed his car on Saturday and drove from his hometown of Agoura Hills, north of Los Angeles, in pursuit of an interview with World War II veteran Robert Maxwell who lives in Bend.

Robert Maxwell is the oldest living WW II Medal of Honor recipient…Sharma sent a letter to the Medal of Honor Society in the hopes of meeting any surviving vets. Within a few days of sending the letter, he got a response from Maxwell, hopped in his car and drove the 825 miles to Bend to meet him.
