The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) recently announced an opportunity for local governments to apply for transportation funding to support roads, bridges, transit, rail, ports, and intermodal transportation through the Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Transportation Discretionary Grants program.

DOT was awarded $900 million for National Infrastructure Investments (BUILD grants), through the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2019. Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis for projects that a significant local or regional impact and are not generally eligible for funding under existing surface transportation formula programs.

DOT will be holding a series of webinars to provide information and assistance on the grant application process. Information on the webinars can be found here. Applications for grants must be submitted by July 15, 2019 for consideration and can be submitted through Grants.gov.
