The 2015 Legislature discussed how woodstove smoke is one of the most significant sources of fine particulate and toxic air pollution in Oregon. Not only is woodsmoke a concern for public health but also economic development due to federal clean air regulations. The Legislature used House Bill 3068 (2015) to direct DEQ to form a workgroup to study and develop recommendations to reduce woodstove smoke for legislative consideration. The work of this 22-member work group can be found on DEQ’s webpage.
