The State is at a 65.7 percent vaccination rate (first dose for Oregonians 16 and older) as of June 28, 2021 according to the Oregon Health Authority COVID-19 Vaccination Metrics Dashboard, just shy of the 70 percent benchmark set for restrictions to be lifted statewide (as announced by the governor’s office in early May). The governor, however, announced on June 25, that the State would be reopening on June 30, or once Oregon meets the 70 percent vaccination rate, whichever comes first.
As a part of the State’s efforts to incentivize vaccinations, the State has introduced the “Take your Shot, Oregon” campaign, where Oregonians 18 and older will have chance to win monetary prizes if they received at least the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by June 28. Drawings for the “Take Your Shot, Oregon” campaign began on June 28. Winners will be announced in July. Click here to learn more about the incentive program.
AOC Support for Counties
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Association of Oregon Counties (AOC) has been dedicated to providing critical member services to help Oregon’s 36 counties navigate the complexities involved with health, testing, regulatory changes, economic impact, resource management, advocacy, vaccines, and other critical information. Below are key areas AOC has been focused on.
- Advocacy – AOC staff has continued to advocate for counties during the 2021 Legislative Session.
- Communications – AOC has distributed over 220 special COVID-19 related briefings and news alerts to county commissioners, judges, chairs, and administrators.
- Information Sharing- AOC has and continues to work with State and federal partners, to ensure counties have been able to ask questions and provide input on regulations and mitigation efforts, including through weekly agency partners call, monthly AOC meetings, and regular calls with the governor’s office.
