The Legislature is on its second round of deadlines, signalling swift movement for key policy.

For bills to have survived to this point, they had to have been scheduled for a work session and moved out of their respective committee in their chamber of origin by April 9.

With over 2,700 total bills introduced, and the number of active bills dwindling to around 1,600 before the second deadline, the fate of many bills will be decided in the coming weeks as the bill scope further narrows.

In its second chamber, a bill must be scheduled for a work session by May 10 and moved out of committee by May 24 in order for it to advance in the legislative process.

This deadline does not apply to joint committees, or House and Senate rules or revenue committees.
