I am reaching out to you to let you know that I will be stepping down from the Board of County Commissioners at the end of this month.

This was not an easy decision for me to make, but I have been offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take the position of Public Works and Development director for the City of Cottage Grove.

As many of you know, Cottage Grove has been home to my family for generations and we are passionate about supporting its growth and success. The opportunity to do so on a daily basis is, for me, a dream come true. It is also a role that will allow me to spend more time with my family. While I have enjoyed and appreciated serving as commissioner, it is a role that can be a challenging one to balance with family.

After 13 years of service, I leave Lane County on a high note, knowing that it is in good hands. As I mentioned in the State of the County Address earlier this year, 2016 was one of the best years for Lane County. I am proud of having been a part of the work we have done to stabilize our organization, improve the efficiency and quality of services, and reinvest in critical services. I am confident in the ability of my fellow commissioners, Lane County’s management and its outstanding employees to continue the great progress we have made.

My fellow commissioners will discuss the application process and timeline for appointing someone to fill the remainder of my term during the regular April 4Board of County Commissioners meeting.

It has been a true privilege to serve the Lane County community. I am and will always be Lane County proud.

Please feel free to share this announcement with others.

Sincerely,

Faye Stewart
