The rapid spread of the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus has led to several new developments in pandemic response.

One of the most significant developments of note is the Biden Administration announcement of free at-home testing for Americans. Mid-January, the administration announced it would buy one billion at-home tests to give to Americans for free. One day in advance of its expected January 19 launch date, Americans were able to begin ordering of rapid antigen COVID-19 tests from COVIDTests.gov. Orders include one set of four rapid antigen COVID-19 tests per household and are expected to arrive within seven to 12 days from the date the order was placed.
