The 2024 legislative “short” session in Oregon was marked by productivity and bipartisan cooperation, focusing on housing production and addressing the drug crisis. Both parties aimed to prioritize these issues, resulting in the passage of 115 bills, including significant housing and drug policy reforms, with strong bipartisan support.

The Association of Oregon Counties (AOC) is pleased to present the 2024 Legislative Summary, a thorough overview of the outcomes resulting from AOC’s 2024 policy priorities and the nearly 40 bills on which AOC staff directly engaged in over the five-week session.

AOC’s focus on relationship-building and collaborative advocacy is showing signs of progress, with AOC increasingly recognized as a key partner in state policymaking processes. AOC appreciates members who joined staff in advocating for our priority policy items in Salem and via virtual testimony, and by responding to calls to action. Direct engagement with legislators moved the needle on key priorities and significantly elevated the united voice of counties in the Capitol.
