Salem, Ore. (July 14, 2022) — The Association of Oregon Counties (AOC) has hired Branden Pursinger as legislative affairs manager for natural resources policy.

Pursinger comes to AOC with 10 years of experience in policy analysis and political engagement, covering a wide range of topics. Pursinger brings strong relationships and background in the Oregon legislative process to the association. In his previous roles, Pursinger navigated complex political issues through the advocacy process, working across the aisle to pass legislation. Most recently, Pursinger served as the Senate Minority Office Chief of Staff and Caucus Administrator. Pursinger has also served as a legislative director, policy analyst and committee staff in the Oregon Legislature.

“We’re excited to welcome Branden to the team. His experience will help elevate AOC in this critical policy portfolio,” said Gina Firman Nikkel, AOC Executive Director, of the hire.

Pursinger will join Mallorie Roberts, who serves as the association’s legislative director (covering transportation policy); and legislative affairs managers: Michael Burdick (community development and public safety), Tyler Janzen (governance and revenue), and Jessica Pratt (health and human services).

“I am excited to see Branden complete the team. His bipartisan approach to legislative work will help us successfully advocate for county policies and continue to share the county story with our state partners,” said George Murdock, AOC President and Umatilla County Commissioner.

Pursinger’s first day will be August 1, 2022.
