As a recipient of funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Business Oregon* administers the Community Development Block Grant Program and is conducting a short survey to collect updated information on housing and community development needs throughout the state. This survey, now extended to October 16, 2020, will provide important information used to inform the new Five-Year Consolidated Plan. The Consolidated Plan is a HUD requirement and sets the strategic vision for allocating housing and community development block grant (CDBG) funds for 2020 through 2024.

This short survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete and can be accessed here.

We recognize that you have many competing priorities during this time as you, your families, and your communities work to mitigate the impacts of COVID-19. We value your input and greatly appreciate you taking the time to complete the survey and provide valuable insight on the community and economic development needs across the state.

The survey is not specifically related to the COVID-19 pandemic but does include some questions related to its impact. Findings from the survey will also inform Oregon’s Analysis of Fair Housing Choice. This analysis examines the existence of and reasons for barriers to housing choice and access to economic opportunity.

This survey is designed for town, city, and county managers and mayors, community and economic development staff, and planning staff in CDBG-eligible areas*. Because HUD funding at the state level is focused on the state’s smaller cities and rural areas, we are especially interested in hearing from people who work in these communities. We also welcome input on statewide issues that affect Oregon residents, regardless of where they live.

Please invite others in your field to participate in the survey by sharing the link above; we want to receive participation from a diverse group of stakeholders. The survey closes October 16, 2020.

If you have any questions about the planning process, need translation of the survey into a language other than English, or need other accommodations to take the survey, please contact hello@rootpolicy.com or 970-880-1415.
