The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) is currently seeking nominations and accepting applications to fill two positions on the seven-member County Opportunity Grant Program Advisory Committee. (Also referred to as the County Parks Assistance Advisory Committee.) The positions to be filled are:

  • County Representative #3 – Representing a County Parks Department
  • RV Owner #1 – Representing Recreational Vehicle Owners

The main function of the Advisory Committee is to read, assess, and score grant applications submitted to the County Opportunity Grant Program, and attend a one-day grant application presentation meeting typically held in Salem each November. However, future meetings may be held virtually, via Zoom, depending on the status of the pandemic.

Specific expectations and responsibilities include:

  • Access to a computer and the internet.
  • The ability to access and navigate an online grant application system.
  • The time and commitment to read, evaluate and score six to twelve, 10-page grant applications during October and November.
  • Attend a one-day grant application presentation meeting typically held in Salem each November. (However, this may be a Zoom meeting.)
  • Complete a required annual online training module Preventing Discrimination and Harassment in the Workplace.

Advisory Committee members serve up to two consecutive four-year terms.  All travel, meals, and lodging expenses associated with committee meetings will be reimbursed by OPRD.

The County Opportunity Grant Program is funded by a portion of recreational vehicle registration fees and is administered by OPRD. The program provides around $850,000 annually to Oregon county sponsored projects that involve recreational vehicle camping and related campground amenities.
