The Oregon Transportation Commission (OTC) is considering proposals for how to allocate the $1.2 billion in new state formula program funds, including nearly $412 million in flexible funding, awarded to Oregon through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). Current Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) proposals target program funding for the State rather than equitable distribution to the State and local government partners.

Advocacy Ask

AOC is asking counties to send letters to the OTC advocating for county road program funding priorities.

A template letter can be found here.

County Priorities Include:

  • Direct funding to local governments;
  • Maintaining a cost-effective State Fund Exchange Program through Surface Transportation Block Grant funding;
  • Adequate funding for the Bridge Formula Program;
  • Investment in All Road Transportation Safety;
    Prioritization of funding for the Promoting Resilient Operations for Transformative, Efficient, and Cost-saving Transportation program; and
  • Emissions reduction funding that benefits urban and rural counties.

AOC/OACES Advocacy Letter

AOC, and its affiliate, Oregon Association of County Engineers and Surveyors (OACES) submitted this letter to advocate for county priorities.
