With National County Government Month in full-effect, counties are telling the story of what they do that directly impacts the daily lives of their community members.

National Association of Counties’ (NACo) theme this year is “Connecting the Unconnected,” an initiative that will explore options for county governments to connect to their residents and promote building safe, healthy, and vibrant communities. NACo will be focused on sharing county delivery systems for “people-centered” services, maximizing government efficiency, and ensuring responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars.

NACo has been building their toolbox to help counties illustrate their role in transportation and infrastructure, community health, justice and public safety, human services, and overall county management. Counties are encouraged during the month of April to share through social media, events, and other mediums the good work they are doing in their communities. Among the many tools NACo has created for county governments to communicate about the services they provide are Counties Matter, a tool that points to statistics on services in counties across the United States, and the County Explorer. This database allows counties to see a snapshot of their offerings to residents in various service areas and compare across their state and the nation.

Take advantage of NACo’s tools and share why your county is making a difference.
