Overlooking Willamette Falls, commissioners from Multnomah, Clackamas, and Washington Counties met at the Museum of the Oregon Territory for the annual AOC District 8 fall meeting.  Clackamas County Chair John Ludlow presided over the meeting as district chair with his vice-chair, Washington County Commissioner Dick Schouten.

Commissioners discussed topics of interest to the region, including passing a transportation package during the next legislative session, addressing behavioral health and public health, affordable housing, and marijuana.  Bobby Lee, regional coordinator for Gov. Kate Brown, also spoke to commissioners about industrial land development in the region.

“At the regional solutions center, we try to get all of the state agency partners working on the same page to move a project forward,” said Lee, a former Eugene City Councilor.

Commissioners discussed the need to coordinate more with cities in the region also.

District 8 commissioners will meet again at the AOC annual conference in Eugene, where a new chair will be elected.  If tradition is followed, it will most likely be a commissioner from Washington County.
