County Commissioners were offered an exclusive tour of the Oregon State Penitentiary on Monday, September 12 during AOC Board & Legislative Committee Day. The tour group included: Hood River County Commissioner Karen Joplin, Douglas County Commissioner Chris Boice, Jefferson County Commissioner Mae Huston, Klamath County Commissioner Kelley Minty Morris, Wasco County Commissioner Rod Runyon, and Wasco County Commissioner Scott Hege. They were joined by Keizer Police Chief John Teague, Senate President Peter Courtney’s Policy Advisor Anna Braun, and AOC business partner Justin Stranzl of DLR Group.
“I was impressed by the daily focus on employment rehabilitation opportunities provided to inmates,” said Joplin.
Additional tours will be scheduled at a future date.
